Our client is currently seeking to hire Pastry Chefs .

Salary Range is negotiable

Job Summary:

The Assistant Pastry Chef is primarily responsible for the creation of a variety of cakes, cookies, pastries and pies, but may also create other baked goods like breads.

They follow set recipes and presentations in order to maintain quality standards and consistency of product.

General duties also include checking stock, ordering ingredients, and reporting any issues with equipment. They must adhere to health and safety standards, and ensure a clean and orderly environment is maintained.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monitor stocks for baking ingredients such as flour, sugar, etc., create re-stock lists and liaise with Pastry Chef/Inventory Coordinator to place orders, as required.
  • Prepare a wide variety of cakes, cookies, pies, breads, based on re-stock lists and production plan, following set recipes.
  • Ensure all baked goods are stored and packaged properly
  • Maintain up to date knowledge about pastry arts / baking and ingredients, keeping abreast with the latest industry trends
  • Suggest New Menu Items
  • Understand the production of your items (by communicating with Management and Market Place Retail) to find out our customer preferences and make suggestions based on findings
  • Work with Management to meet with customers to discuss custom-made desserts or baked goods for special occasions
  • Train and guide new employees
  • Comply with food sanitation requirements by properly handling food items and ensuring correct storage, as well as applicable health, and personal hygiene standards
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work station area, including racks, tables and counter tops. Clean and sanitize surfaces at the end of the shift.
  • Clean and sterilize all utensils, instruments, and equipment used, as required, including at the end of shift.
  • Report all equipment problems and maintenance issues, known safety hazards, or unsafe practices and procedures to supervisor immediately.
  • Ensure that the kitchen operations procedures are followed
  • Assist in recipe / menu creation

Any other related duties as may be assigned from time to time.

  • The ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Working knowledge of baking with ingredient limitations (gluten free, sugarless, etc.)
