JOB PURPOSE:

The Group Head of Brokerage and Dealing is responsible for overseeing all aspects of brokerage and dealing and treasury function, managing liquidity, investments, and financial risks to optimize the Group’ financial performance activities in accordance with the regulations and guidelines set forth by the Trinidad and Tobago Securities and Exchange Commission (TTSEC) and other best-practice risk management strategies for an entity of this type. This role requires strong leadership, strategic planning, and a deep understanding of securities trading, investment practices and treasury management.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and guidelines set forth by the TSEC.
  • Develop and maintain policies and procedures to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor changes in regulations and update internal policies as needed.

Operational Management

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the brokerage and dealing department.
  • Develop and implement efficient trading strategies and processes.
  • Monitor trade execution and ensure timely settlement of transactions.

Risk Management

  • Identify and assess potential risks associated with brokerage and dealing activities.
  • Develop risk mitigation strategies and controls to minimize exposure.
  • Implement measures to ensure the security and integrity of trading systems and data.
  • Identify, assess, and manage financial risks, including interest rate risk, market risk, and credit risk.
  • Develop risk management policies and procedures to mitigate exposure to risks.
  • Monitor risk metrics and compliance with regulatory requirements.

Investment Management

  • Develop investment strategies for the entity’s surplus funds, balancing risk and return objectives.
  • Execute investment transactions in accordance with established guidelines and policies.
  • Monitor investment performance and adjust strategies as needed.

Liquidity and Cash Management

  • Manage the entity's liquidity position to ensure adequate funding for operations and regulatory compliance.
  • Optimize cash flow forecasting and cash management processes to maximize efficiency.
  • Oversee the entity's relationships with financial institutions for cash management purposes.

Financial Reporting and Analysis

  • Prepare regular reports on department’s activities, financial performance, and risk metrics for senior management and regulators.
  • Conduct financial analysis to support decision-making and strategic planning

Client Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and counterparties.
  • Provide guidance and support to clients on trading and investment opportunities.
  • Address client inquiries and concerns in a timely and professional manner.

Team Leadership and Development

  • Lead and mentor a team of brokerage and dealing professionals.
  • Provide training and development opportunities to enhance team skills and knowledge.
  • Foster a culture of compliance, excellence, and continuous improvement.

JOB SPECIFICATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting, Business or a related field. Advanced degree or professional certification (e.g.,ACCA, CFA, CMT) is preferred.
  • Minimum of [10 years] of experience in brokerage and dealing operations or treasury management and Trading, with a strong understanding of securities trading and market regulations.
  • Proven track record of leadership and management in a brokerage or financial services environment.
  • Excellent knowledge of financial markets, trading platforms, and investment products.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
